If you have a polished manuscript and think you might be ready to get it out there, you could use a service like BookRix to get it formatted and listed on several ebook sites. It offers high royalties, monthly payments over a certain amount, and a social aspect to get your works read and promoted.
Of course, you have to get that manuscript finished, edited, and create your own cover image. Make sure to use free stock photos or some of your own. There are also cover editors out there whom you could pay for their services. As long as you have the rights to the cover, you are golden.
This site does not do print-on-demand books. For that, you need to use CreateSpace; which is letter 'C' tomorrow. :)
